T3D Thermal Design and Dimensional Drift Project
T3D is a three year collaborative project between European National Measurement Institutes (NMIs) that will provide the materials metrology needed to ensure European industry maintains its leading position in precision engineering and high-end industrial production, October 2011 - September 2014.
The aim of the project is to optimise the thermal stability of precision-engineering instrumentation and production tools over timescales of weeks to months. The project will develop new instruments and methods, and use them to measure a selection of joints and materials commonly used in precision engineering. The data produced will be used to populate a database to support improved machine design.
