WP 3: Determination of T - T90 with ultra-low uncertainties
Participants: INRIM, CEM, CNAM, LNE, NPL, PTB, TUBITAK, NIM, UVa, stage 3 REG-Second University of Naples and collaborator NIST
The aim of this workpackage is to reduce the uncertainty in the determination of the difference between thermodynamic temperature and the defined temperature scale ITS-90 (namely T - T90) over the range 1 K and 1000 K. Target twofold reduction in the uncertainty compared to the current data.
The 4 tasks are:
- Extension to existing facilities to cover the projected temperature range of the WP.
- First comparison of thermodynamic temperature using various experimental methods (150 K to 500 K). This will identify systematic effects particular to any one experimental method, and enable reduction of the effect, and increase confidence in the T - T90 values
- Development of new facilities and upgrades to existing facilities (2.5 K to 255 K and 550 K to 1000 K) (ranges where few determinations of T - T90 exist, or show evident inconsistencies)
- Second comparison of thermodynamic temperature using various experimental methods (2.5K to 1000 K). As with task 2 the use of multiple methods will identify systematic effects particular to any one experimental method, and enable reduction of the effect, and increase confidence in the T - T90 values
