Metrology for New Generation Nuclear Power Plants
Society demands energy supplies that are secure, sustainable and
of high quality. In the next decade, Europe is facing potential energy
shortages as oil and gas supplies run down and nuclear power facilities age.
Pressure to reduce the green house gas emissions has lead to a requirement for
the development of a new generation of nuclear power plants in Europe.
This JRP will develop the necessary infrastructure to enable measurement of the
parameters associated with new generation nuclear power plants, in the area of
materials, temperature, neutron fluence, nuclear data and radiometric methods
to ensure that energy suppliers and regulators can work towards an energy
secure future within a metrology framework.
