Velindre NHS Trust was established in 1994 and is a unique Trust in Wales providing a range of specialist regional and All Wales services. Velindre NHS Trust is sponsor of a number of UK wide multicentre oncology studies of investigational medicinal products and manages a large portfolio of non-commercial studies, pharmaceutical studies and locally initiated phase I, II and III studies conducted within Velindre Cancer Centre. Velindre Cancer Centre is a Division of Velindre NHS Trust and is one of the largest Cancer Centres in the UK providing specialist cancer services to over 1.5 million people in South East Wales and beyond. The cancer centre plays a significant role training health care professionals in cancer care and treatment. Velindre Cancer Centre also has strong links and joint research projects with the Wales Positron Emission Tomography Imaging Centre (PETIC) in Cardiff University.
Role and main tasks in the JRP
Velindre will contribute to WP2, WP3, and WP4 and particularly with the MC modelling aspects of these workpackages. Velindre will bring its experience in Monte Carlo simulations and in the determination of absorbed dose from radionuclides. Resources for phantom design and construction will be also provided.
