The JRP Consortium

This HiTeMS Consortium brings together complementary world leading skills found within the Partner organisations to address a broad spectrum of high temperature measurement challenges within industry.

Delegates from the HiTeMS partner Institutes attended a three day event at NPL, Teddington, in September 2011 to formally launch the project

It is absolutely clear that no one institute could address all of these challenges on their own. But together, this project, through coordination of national activities into a coherent high temperature measurement research programme, a leap forward in high temperature measurement capability in the National Measurement Institutes (NMIs) and also in industry will be affected.

With respect to the national measurement institutes (NMIs) this project will exploit the strong synergies that exist between the Partner institutes whilst avoiding unnecessary duplication of activity. One major objective of the project will be to draw the different national research activities at high temperatures of the NMIs into one coherent structure so that efficient and effective deployment of resource will be assured. The strong partnerships forged between the NMIs during the project should facilitate enduring collaborations beyond its completion facilitating continued joint work on emerging high temperature measurement industrial challenges, for the benefit of the NMIs and EU Enterprises.

The inclusion of a number of unfunded industrial partners is absolutely vital to the success of HiTeMS. It demonstrates the relevance and importance of the work planned. In addition, through providing access to their facilities, their inclusion gives the opportunity to trial the new methodologies and techniques a real industrial environment vital to demonstrate the improvements envisaged.
