The 30-month project partner meeting for EMRP Thermo was held on 1-2 December 2015 at CMI in Prague.
Day 1 (1 December) was held at CMI's Botanice Street site in Prague city centre and included a CEN WG meeting attended by external stakeholders.
Day 2 (2 December) was hosted at CMI's main laboratory in Radiová Street, and included a comprehensive tour of CMI's thermal materials laboratory and a full assessment of CMI's thermal conductivity measurement apparatus (Guarded Hot Plate and Heat Flow Meter).
The 24-month project partner meeting was held at PTB in Braunschweig, Germany on 12-13 May.
Presentations and updates were given by all JRP partners and a workshop on PTB's Transient Hot Bridge thermal conductivity measurement technique was given by Dr Ulf Hammerschmidt.
The 18-month Project Meeting was held on 4 and 5 November 2014 at NPL, and the first Stakeholder Committee was held on 6 November 2014 at NPL. PDF presentations from the Stakeholder Committee can be downloaded below:
Based on the work in the EMRP 'Thermo' project, LNE and CMI will deliver three presentations and one paper at the 20th European Conference on Thermophysical Properties (ECTP 2014).
The 12-month Project Meeting was held in May 2014 at MKEH, Hungary. The second workshop on Uncertainty Budget of High Temperature Guarded Hot Plate was also held.
On 28 and 29 April 2014, NPL submitted two papers and delivered three presentations based on the work in the EMRP 'Thermo' project at the 32nd International Thermal Conductivity Conference that was held at the Purdue University, Indiana, USA. NPL also co-hosted a workshop with NIST, PTB and NMIJ in the same conference and presented 'Europe Viewpoint - EURAMET Project on Thermal Conductivity Measurement of High-Temperature Insulation'. The title of the workshop is 'Workshop on High-Temperature Measurements of Thermal Transport Properties: A Perspective from Several National Metrology Institutes'.
The 'Thermo' project was presented in the 'EMRP projects on thermophysical properties' by Jean-Remy Filtz from LNE, France at the EURAMET TC-T meeting in Cavtat/Dubrovnik, Croatia in early April.
The 6MM project meeting was held in November 2013 at LNE, France. The first workshop on Uncertainty Budget of High Temperature Guarded Hot Plate was also held.
A presentation titled 'EURAMET project on thermal conductivity measurement of high-temperature insulation' will be delivered to the BIPM CCT WG9 at TEMPMEKO 2013 conference in October.
Standardization and Metrology: Collaboration on thermal performance for protection materials (EMRP SIB52)
Ensuring a fast uptake of new findings from metrology into measurement standards is important for safety and innovation in society and industry. Two bodies further developing this collaboration are the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and EURAMET. EURAMET's current European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) offers possibilities for collaboration.

CEN/TC89 Decision 517/2013 to collaborate with EMRP Thermo
European members of CEN/TC89 voted to endorse Decision 517/2013, which proposed that CEN would collaborate with the consortium of EMRP project SIB52 on high temperature thermal conductivity metrology for protection materials. The decision means that the knowledge generated in the EMRP project will be directly disseminated to the new measurement standards.
Successful launch of the EMRP project on thermal protection materials
An EMRP project on thermal protection materials started on 1 June 2013 and a successful kick-off meeting was held on 12 and 13 June 2013 at NPL.
