Technical Work Packages

The Challenge of Novel Measurements on Bulk Materials across the Spectrum

AIM of Workpackage

The aim of this work package is to develop new measurement techniques for bulk materials of crucial importance for industrial applications. A wide range of new techniques are required by industry in this category and in this project some of them will also be tackled through case studies. This WP, however, concentrates on expanding the frequency coverage of broad-band dielectric measurements by covering two areas of importance that require more effort than a case study in order to make them metrologically sound. These are: first, the expansion of frequency coverage of resonant methods for low-loss dielectrics, and secondly the development of an LF/RF technique that will be suitable for measurement in industrial environments. Methods will be developed both at the LF (<1 MHz) and millimetre extremes of the frequency range covered in this project.

Partners Roles

SIQ leads this WP. They bring expertise on LF measurements and very close links to the industries that will benefit from this work.

GUM brings world leading expertise from Professor Jerzy Krupka who has been employed especially for this project.

Links with other Workpackages (WPs)

The other WPs link to this WP through common requirements in modelling and measurement comparisons.
