Field Trials

Site selection criteria

  • Accessibility for deployment
  • Prevailing environmental noise levels >40dB(A)
  • Exposed to limited number of noise sources
  • Subject to road traffic or aircraft noise sources for which the noise levels can be predicted by means of computer modelling
  • Risk of vandalism and theft for equipment installed on site
  • No insurmountable safety and health hazards to personnel working on the site

  • No. of units deployed: 40
  • Mounting types:
    • Tripod only

The site is close to the direct take-off path of London City airport, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and North Woolworth Road. In addition, other noise sources include existing commercial and construction activities and a light industrial operation. All these elements provided a rich acoustical environment for investigation. The site is security patrolled 24/7. Below displays the distribution of the DREAMSys nodes after the phase II deployment.
